Paypal via Braintree
If you wish to use Paypal, you must first set up an account with Braintree (a Paypal subsidiary).
1. Sign up for a Braintree Account
Go to braintreepayments.com and sign up for an account. Make sure it's a Production account, not Sandbox. We cannot support sandbox for security purposes.
NOTE: It is important to make sure your currency is set to the same value on each of your accounts (processing, Shopify & ReCharge). If your account is set to a different currency than you intended, you may mis-charge your customers.
2. Enter your Braintree credentials
You'll need to get the following 3 credentials from Braintree:
- Merchant ID
- Public Key
- Private Key
click View Copy the Public Key, Private Key, Merchant ID
Enter your Braintree credentials in the Recharge app
If you're having trouble finding the Braintree inputs, email email@example.com with your 3 credentials and we can enable it for you.
3. IF USING PAYPAL: Enable Paypal in your Braintree account
If you want to Enable Paypal, here's how you do it within the Braintree settings
Once this is enabled, a Paypal option should appear on the checkout:
NOTE: It is important to make sure your currency is set to the same value on each of your accounts (processing, Shopify & ReCharge). If your account is set to a different currency than you intended, you stand to mis-charge your customers.
When existing subscribers go to update their payment info, they will be directed to update the info directly in Paypal as seen here:
