Taxes Setup

In your ReCharge Dashboard go to the Settings menu and select Taxes.
Once the address is entered, it must be validated before taxes can be calculated on the next screen of the checkout. When you first install ReCharge, our system will sync the province taxes to match the settings in Shopify once. Going forward, if this is edited in Shopify, it will not sync automatically with ReCharge, it must be updated independently through the ReCharge app itself.

If you are charging taxes and you are also based in the USA, please provide the Zip codes of where you have a physical address.

At the bottom, you will be able to add countries and edit them to adjust tax rates. When testing this out at the checkout, be sure to enter an address in order to generate the taxes.

Once you have taxes set up, please feel free to take a look at our Shipping Setup article.

Note: If you're from the EU, you'll want to monitor the Value Added Tax or VAT. This is a general, broadly based consumption tax assessed on the value added to goods and services. It applies more or less to all goods and services that are bought and sold for use or consumption in the European Union. With ReCharge, you can now calculate and record the tax amount if the tax is included in your prices, this is especially useful for EU VAT regulations. These tax amounts will show up in your Shopify reports.

Changes to Taxes

When you make changes to taxes in ReCharge, it will affect all existing customers and will use the new rate for all the new orders. However, this only applies to changes in ReCharge to the tax settings. If it's only changed in Shopify, it will not affect subscription customers in ReCharge.
