What happens when an existing customer goes through checkout again with a different credit card?

Each subscriber can have multiple active payment methods. If one of your existing customers completes a new checkout with the same email but a different payment method, Recharge stores the new payment method alongside the old, and ensures the associated subscriptions are charged to the correct payment method.
If the customer prefers to use the same payment method for all subscriptions, they can either move all subscriptions to the same address or update each address to link to the same payment method.
Note: Some stores on the Recharge Checkout on Shopify are using single payment methods. In these cases, the payment method used at checkout overrides the previous payment method on file for all subscriptions. If your store is on the Recharge Checkout on Shopify and you would like to have multiple payment methods enabled, contact the Recharge Support team.
