Customers are linked to their account based on their email address. Recharge checks the customer’s email address at checkout against the ecommerce platform’s customer profile records. If a customer profile does not exist, a new customer profile is created and can result in a customer having multiple accounts with different emails. If you are using RechargeSMS and a customer uses the same phone number across multiple accounts, RechargeSMS creates a sub account under the original account if a customer checks out with a different email but the same phone number.
