A great way to increase your revenue is to create the option for customers to have a mixed cart of goods. The definition of a mixed cart of goods is a collection of recurring items and non-recurring items. This guide provides an overview of processing and refunding mixed carts.
Understand mixed carts
The ReCharge definition of a mixed cart of goods is a collection of recurring items and non-recurring items. ReCharge automatically recognizes the difference between both the recurring items and non-recurring items. Subscriptions are set up in ReCharge and all your non-recurring items set up in Shopify. Customers can then add a subscription to their cart as well as non-recurring items and complete their purchase through a normal checkout process.
This process will work as long as you do not modify your checkout flow with custom code. If you do modify your code, make sure to run a test mixed cart order to ensure all app settings are working properly.
Refund mixed carts
If a customer has a mixed cart, all items will process through the ReCharge checkout. Any refunds for the order will need to be processed through ReCharge as the transaction information does not exist in Shopify. For more information on processing refunds, visit Issuing a refund in ReCharge.
Can I process just non-recurring items through the ReCharge checkout?
Due to Shopify requirements, only recurring items and mixed carts can be processed in ReCharge. All carts solely containing non-recurring items will process through the Shopify checkout.
Can customers add one-time items to their subscription orders through the Customer Portal?
Yes, visit Adding one-time products to an upcoming order to read more.
