ReCharge Analytics provides you with a high-level overview of the health of your subscription business.
While this information is useful, there are factors such as the time you obtained the data, and the sources you're comparing the data to, which may cause the data to be different than what you're expecting.
Before you start
It is important to note that ReCharge Analytics should not be relied on as a professional accounting tool, or a replacement for a professional business advisor.
The ReCharge Analytics suite is meant to give a helpful overview of how your business is performing and allows you to identify high-level behavior trends.
Common discrepancies
The following are resolutions to a few common discrepancies we've identified.
- ReCharge Analytics displays data through 11:59 PM ET. It is not refreshed every time you access the Analytics dashboard. However, data obtained through the ReCharge API, webhooks, or exports is updated periodically throughout the day.
- Discrepancies between data sources may occur if you have migrated to ReCharge.
- The total sales amount on the Revenue Trends dashboard is calculated using the charge amount for each order. The charge amount is the total cost of the product, as well as tax and shipping charges, minus any discount amounts, or partial refunds.
Discrepancies between ReCharge Analytics and external data
You may notice differences in data accessed through the ReCharge Analytics suite, and data accessed externally, like Shopify Analytics.
We recommend choosing one Analytics platform and using that as the source of truth for all of your store data. Comparing data across analytics platforms is not recommended due to the differences in calculation and datapoints accessed.
ReCharge API
ReCharge Analytics tracks every customer and subscription change, and reports on those changes over time. Data obtained through the ReCharge API, Exports, or Webhooks only queries the most recent record for the customer.
Merchants leveraging the API through external apps to build out their Customer Portal may notice a difference in the amount of same-day cancellations. These apps often count one-time products as prepaid subscriptions, which are marked as same-day cancellations. ReCharge Analytics does not view one-time products as a same-day cancellation.
ReCharge Analytics considers a customer as active provided that they have at least one active subscription. The ReCharge API or Exports considers only the customer's status to determine if they are active or inactive.
Shopify Analytics
Shopify uses its own method of calculating sales data, which can be affected by various factors such as a customer using a cookie blocker or shopping in an Incognito browser.
Google Analytics and LittleData
Like Shopify Analytics, both Google Analytics, and Littledata use different methods to calculate store data.
If you notice a large discrepancy between ReCharge Analytics, Google Analytics, or Littledata, or any other third party platform using our API, it is likely due to how the integration has been set up.
