Eligibility and status
The Themes Customer Portal is currently in open beta and available to BigCommerce and ReCharge Checkout merchants. If you have any questions or feedback while using the beta, please reach out to the support team.
Before you start
- The Themes Customer Portal requires custom CSS code to match the font, color, and style of your Shopify theme. Custom CSS is not supported by ReCharge Support as per our design policy. If you require further assistance, please visit the ReCharge Partner Directory.
- At this time, it is not possible to make adjustments to the translations in the Themes Customer Portal through the Settings > Translation section.
Highlights of the new Novum theme on the Themes Customer Portal
Updated look & feel
The new theme is specifically designed for subscription businesses and includes small details from shifting the “Cancel” button to proven retention-building tactics such as skip and swap options.
Order Now button
Give your customers the option to fast forward their next subscription charge. ReCharge will immediately process the charge so customers don't have to wait.
One-time products
Boost average order value by presenting customers with upsell opportunities within the Customer Portal. Customers can add one-time purchases to their upcoming subscription orders.
Mobile-first design
The Novum theme was built with a mobile-first approach. Your customers have a smooth experience on any device they access the portal on.
Upcoming Orders tab
Novum introduces a new Upcoming Orders tab in the customer portal that breaks down future subscriptions and one-time products based on the day they are set to charge. Customers will see a breakdown based on the day of charge and shipping address for easy access.
Previewing themes
Once you have been accepted into the beta and the feature enabled on your store, you can preview the current Novum theme to see what it will look like on your Customer Portal.
- In the ReCharge Dashboard, click the wrench icon.
- Select Customer portal.
- Under Customer portal location select Themes.
- Click on Preview theme.
Enable the new Themes Customer Portal
After you preview the Novum theme, you can enable it for your store on the same page.
- In the ReCharge Dashboard, click the wrench icon.
- Select Customer portal.
- Under Customer portal location select Themes.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save.
Enable the Novum theme in the Theme Editor
If you are a ReCharge Pro merchant with access to the ReCharge Theme Engine, you can access the Novum theme files directly in the Theme Editor.
- Navigate to Theme Editor
- Click Create New Theme button.
- Select Novum as your chosen theme.
- Click Create Theme button to generate a new theme based on Novum.
Customer portal location
Once enabled, you have your choice of location where the customer portal will be hosted. By default, Hosted by ReCharge will be selected.
Hosted by ReCharge means that your subscription customer portal will be separate from your platform's customer portal and will not inherit style changes from your store theme.
Adjust styling with the theme CSS
By default, the Novum theme is standard across all stores and will not match the color and styling of your store out-of-the-box. You can edit the theme's CSS styling manually to create a unified, seamless experience between store and Customer Portal. See Customizing the Novum themes customer portal for more information.
- In the ReCharge Dashboard, click the wrench icon.
- Select Customer portal.
- Add your custom code to Header HTML/CSS/JS, Footer HTML/CSS/JS, or Credit card page CSS in Customize styles.
- Scroll to the bottom and hit Save.
Troubleshooting
The manage subscriptions link is going to the wrong customer portal
The new Themes Customer Portal has a different URL to the legacy portal. Any links you may have hardcoded into email notifications and Shopify account liquid file directing your customers to the portal and their subscriptions will need to be updated with the Themes Portal URL.
