This guide provides resources to help you get started on configuring your store settings once you've installed Recharge on Shopify. The guide will cover shipping settings, tax settings, creating and managing your products, handling inventory, the customer portal, staff account access, and legal settings.
Review the merchant portal
Configure shipping settings
Setting up proper shipping rates is essential for the health of your business and the next step is to set up your shipping strategy.
For more information, visit Setting up shipping for the Shopify Checkout Integration.
Configure tax settings
As a merchant, you might need to charge taxes on your sales and it's important to know how much sales tax is charged for your subscription orders. Taxes are managed directly in Shopify.
Refer to Configuring tax settings with the Shopify Checkout Integration to learn more about how taxes work with Recharge.
Configure product collections and rules
Understanding subscription models will get you started on your subscription journey. Recharge enables you to group and organize your subscription products into collections.
Configure inventory settings
Inventory management is important to your business as it helps your store prevent stockouts, manage multiple locations, and ensure accurate recordkeeping. Inventory is set and managed in Shopify directly.
Take a look at Handling product inventory for the Shopify Checkout Integration to learn more about inventory behavior settings and how you can adjust these in Recharge.
Configure customer portal settings
When it comes time for the customer to make changes to their own subscription, the customer portal is the command center. Customers can manage their orders, add on products, and make updates in one centralized hub without needing to reach out to your Customer Service team.
To make any changes and preview the portal, in the merchant portal click Storefront and select Customer portal. For more information, see Understanding the Customer portal.
Refer to Customer accounts with the Shopify Checkout Integration to learn more about how customers use the customer portal to manage their subscriptions.
Manage staff accounts
If you have multiple team members working with Recharge you can configure additional staff accounts with individual logins.
- In the merchant portal, click Settings and select Accounts.
- Click Add account to send email invitations to your team members.
Refer to Enabling Recharge user and account permissions to learn more about adding and managing additional accounts.
Configure legal settings
To update or review your legal settings, click Settings and select Legal in the merchant portal. In this section, you can update the subscription terms in the footer of your subscription activation email.
You can also add a legal disclaimer to your checkout through your Shopify Admin. Refer to Shopify's guide on Adding store policies for more information.
